Curiosity Kills the Cat.. Loyalty Kills the Dog.

I was watching the news today (I'm one of those strange children that watch it haha) when one story caught my eye.. it was about a pitbull (You probably know where this is going now, because of the title, don't you?), named Star, was protecting it's owner from the people around her, when they were trying to help the owner, because the owner was having a seizer. She pounced on a cop, and the cop.. had a gun, and shot Star in the eye.

Now, continue reading before you start crying (I was so relieved at the end of the article, I was about to cry too).

Star lost her eye, but she DID survive. She now lives with another person and a dog, and has made a pretty much full recovery, considering she still doesn't have her left eye.

Star is probably one of the sweetest, friendliest dogs you could ever meet (according to the current owner) and is happy and healthy right now.

Now, I know the cop was only doing it for defense, but was the gun the only option? Was it necessary to try and kill a dog, that was only trying to defend her owner?

(Post from Nafaria9 of the Animal Jam Whip) White Tigers- What they have to suffer

Tigers are really cool creatures- especially white tigers.

Unfortunately, there's more negative sides than positive sides of these wondrous cats.

Despite their beauty, there's something a lot of us don't quite understand.

Let's do some myth busting here.

1. White Tigers are just Siberian Tigers with a very rare color of fur.

This myth is a foolish story. White tigers get their fur through a genetic mutation that causes a condition called leucism. Leucistic animals are similar to albino animals, in that the pigment in their bodies did not fill in where it should have. Interestingly, leucism in tigers usually occurs among Bengal tigers and not among Siberian tigers.

2. White Tigers inhabit the wildernesses- born and bred.

Again, this myth is inncorrect. There is NO place in the world where white tigers naturally inhabit. In fact, for a tiger, being white in the wild is a distinct disadvantage. Without the typical orange and black pattern to provide proper camouflage, a tiger cannot depend on a surprise attack on its prey. That makes it extremely difficult to eat. The black and orange coloring is crucial to a tiger's survival.

For this reason, no legitimate association or organization has any plans to release white tigers into the wild. Some people think that releasing them is acceptable, simply because so many of us find the white tigers beautiful. But we must understand the truthful ways of the white tiger.

The terribly sad thing about these tigers is that they were NOT born and bred in the wild, but in captivity, which means they STAY in captivity for the rest of their lives. They are purposely inbred in captivity to meet the demand of paying public. The kind of severe inbreeding that is required to produce the mutation of a white coat also causes a number of defects, such as:

-Cross-eyed eyes, even though they might not appear to be cross-eyed.
-The optic nerve is wired on the wrong side of the brain.
-They are born with awkward teeth that go in all different directions.
-They suffer from club feet.
-They suffer from cleft palates.
-They suffer from spinal deformities.
-And lastly they suffer from defective organs.

These amazing felines are suffering from so much already, but that's not the end of it. Each year white tiger cubs are sold for thousands of dollars. Our fascination with white tigers is a poor reason to continue inbreeding them.

I hope that suited you for the night. Pink has my permission to post this on her Animal Rights Society blog.

I leave you with a picture that sums up all I have said- er, typed.

The Scratch Animal Rights Society & Mascot Design Changes

I have decided to spread ARS even farther by making a studio on Scratch! Click here to view it!

Since this blog isn't about Animal Jam, I decided to draw the mascot instead of it being an Animal Jam sprite:
(I know, not very good)

Awful..

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been posting on here! Anyway, I was checking my email, when I saw this awful ad:

It's probably just one of those virus ads, but still.. it's terrible to say that. :(

Pitbulls

I found this stamp on someone's CS signature:
It says:
Estimated numbers of the dogs that are pit bulls in the U.S population: 20%
Pit bull death rate in shelters: 93%
Pit bulls killed per year: Over 1 million
Average number of fatalities by pit bulls per year: 3 (Humans killed by pit bulls)
It is estimated that for every pit bull that kills, there are 10.5 million do NOT!
Who are the real victims?

Pit bulls need more love, respect, and care!

Please tell me if any don't work!

Cute Canines

Again, the below images are from Google, so credit to their owners!!!

These furry friends are extremely important to nature. Wolves actually help deer live. Here's an example:

When wolves hunt, they take down the older, weaker, sick deer. This stops the diseases from spreading to the younger, stronger, healthy deer, therefore keeping the deer healthy.

All animals have a place in the planet- no matter how many people hate them. Mosquitos feed many animals. If mosquitos went extinct, their predators' numbers would drop, then the predators' predators would die out, then so on.

People start hating animals like the ones above because only a few of them did something bad. It gave them a bad reputation, and you know. I think of them like these little guys:
I found this on someone's sig on CS
If people like these cuties, why can't they like their cousins?

Also, I read a short story about a little girl getting lost. Then she found a pack of painted dogs, and they took care of her. <3 So sweet. Her parents found her after, though, so she went home. (Don't ask me how she found the painted dogs, because I don't know how. I don't even know if the story is real, but believe me, it can happen)

Feline Friends

Hey everyone! I got the below pictures from Google, so credit to their owners! Also, I'm just warning you, don't search for images from Google- some of them are disturbing. >.<

Do the above look happy? YES. Now, does this one look happy?

NO.

I know that some people are trying to get the endangered animal numbers up, but keeping them in cages doesn't work. What's the point of living if you're miserable? The answer is reservations. People are too greedy to make a good amount of space for endangered animals.

Also, while I was looking for the images above, I saw some really awful photos. Some of them were illegally hunted/poached tigers. It makes me angry that someone is that greedy for money. I could scream right now, but I won't because... I just won't.

But seriously. I wish people could just STOP IT. I'll just publish this post, because.... I have nothing else to say.........

ARS Mascot!

Hey everyone! Here's our new mascot:
I chose an elephant because when I went to the Bronx Zoo, I saw an awareness poster that said "96 elephants are killed in Africa everyday for their tusks. This is what 96 looks like:"
Then it would show 96 elephants, including both adults and young ones. It's a lot more than you think, and breaks my heart that people are greedy enough to kill an animal.. to make what? Jewelry? Vases? Decorations????? They can live without tusks. Elephants can't. :(

Also, if you're wondering why he has blue swirls, it's because our official color is purple-blue/indigo, but that was the closest color they had.

Welcome!!!

Hey everyone! I've seen so many awful true stories about animal cruelty- and I decided it's time to step up to those horrible people. Little by little we'll be able to help- we just need to spread the word! Here's a lil' something for CS signatures/trade rules:
This is what it will look like

If it doesn't work, please let me know so I can fix it! I'm not very good at coding. Also, all you have to do is copy and paste it. Nothing else! owo

I'll post more soon;; I'm really tired.. -0-

Also, if you're COPPA, just choose the animal welfare and/or rights stamps for your collection. owo
